"One of the most wonderful experiences of your life..."
Howzat Travel's Managing Director Ian Kerr shares his own thoughts about 'the pearl in the Indian Ocean'.
As a reasonably well-travelled Englishman, I first travelled to Sri Lanka in 2007 to witness England’s last test tour with a group of Howzat Travellers. I travelled with an open mind on what to expect and I can promise you that Sri Lanka delivers on every front.
I can honestly say that it is now my favourite country on planet Earth, so much so that I recently married my wife Leanne on Sri Lankan soil.
I have never in all my life met so many genuinely friendly people with the most welcoming smiles, a country where the Buddhism faith is in the majority - and it shows.
The diversity of Sri Lanka amazes me, from unspoilt beaches, tea plantations, wildlife reserves - including the fabulous elephant orphanage at Pinnawela and (in my opinion) easily one of the world’s wonders – Sigiriya Rock - Sri Lanka really does have something for everyone.
Sri Lanka is actually one of the biodiversity hotspots of the world, abundant with a wealth of wonderful flaura and fauna. If you are interested in history, then why not explore Sri Lanka’s ancient and medieval past or even how the British rule influenced this wonderful land. With beautiful cuisine, fresh fish and many international choices, great food is never far away! The Sri Lankan people also love cricket and sport is their life blood and passion.
England’s tour next March takes in the very best of Sri Lanka and we pride ourselves as the UK’s market-leading specialist cricket tour operator that we have the best range and diversity of tours available.
We hope to see you in Sri Lanka, for what I promise will be one of the most wonderful experiences of your life.

"You will be knocked out by the experience"
Ambassador to Sri Lanka and friend of Howzat Travel, Clive Leach also sings the island's praises.
I have been a regular visitor to Sri Lanka since 1990, both on business and pleasure, and can unequivocally say that you will be knocked out by the experience.
You can be assured of being met by big smiles and a warm welcome which will continue, as they discover the beauty that is Sri Lanka, a paradise island of small miracles. The people, the places, the history and the culture all offer an introduction to something special. There is something there for everyone. The wonderful beaches in the South and East, the ancient heritage sites in the interior, the lush green plantations and resorts located in the mountainous regions and the country’s wild life, including rare jungle birds with the most extraordinary colouring.
And then probably of the greatest importance to many of you is the Sri Lankans' deep love of cricket. It doesn’t matter where you are or whom you are speaking to, cricket will always feature strongly in the conversation, and they really do know their cricket well. Be prepared to join in, because games of cricket are played everywhere and they do like to win, which adds to the fun. The World Cup in 2012 is heightening their excitement more than ever...
I have known the Howzat team for some time and I also know of their love for cricket. So there you have the perfect match, Sri Lanka with all its beauty and its love affair with cricket and Howzat Travel. It has to be a sure fire winner.
I am confident that you will enjoy the never-to-be-forgotten experience that is Sri Lanka.
