You will be met on arrival at Colombo International Airport and transfer to Kandy. Here, you will check in at Hill Top Hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

You are invited to join your tour leader and the rest of your tour group for welcome drinks in the evening. This will be an ideal chance for you to get to know your fellow Howzat Travellers.

Thursday 27th September

Later in the afternoon, we will provide transport to the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, so you can witness the Sri Lanka v New Zealand (C1 v D2) and England v West Indies (A1 v B2) T20 matches*. After the matches, we will provide transport back to the hotel.

Friday 28th September
After breakfast and a morning at leisure, we have an afternoon visit to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. This botanical garden was first built as a pleasure garden by a Sinhala king and was expanded by the British. It covers 147 acres and features an amazing variety of trees, plants and flowers.

We will then do a city tour of Kandy - the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings, and now a World Heritage Site. The name Kandy conjures visions of splendor and magnificence and many of the legends, traditions and folklore are still lovingly kept alive.

We will drive around the Kandy Lake built by the last Sinhala king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe in 1798, then visit the Kandy town and bazaar, the arts & crafts centre and a gem museum and a lapidary.

In the evening, we will visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and thereafter witness a cultural show featuring traditional Sri Lankan dancing. After an enjoyable day, we will return back to the hotel.

Saturday 29th September

Later in the afternoon, we will provide transport to the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, so you can witness the West Indies v New Zealand (B2 v D2) and England v Sri Lanka (A1 v C1) T20 matches*. After the matches, we will provide transport back to the hotel.

Tuesday 2nd October
After we have enjoyed breakfast, we check out of the hotel and leave for Colombo, en-route visiting the elephant orphanage in Pinnawala. This orphanage is the home for about 89 elephants, out of which some are baby elephants found abandoned or orphaned in the wild. They are being cared, fed and trained by the wild life authorities. The best time to visit is during the feeding times, when one will have the opportunity of seeing the baby elephants being bottle-fed. We will hopefully also accompany the elephants to a river close-by and see them having their daily bath.

On arrival on Colombo, we will check in to the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel and the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Wednesday 3rd October
After breakfast, you can join us for an optional Colombo Sightseeing Tour, or alternatively just spent the day at your leisure.

Optional Colombo Sightseeing Tour
We will first drive through the commercial area of the 'fort', so named because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a fort at this point. We then drive passed 'Pettah' - a noisy Oriental bazaar with a mixed bag of ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques & temples. We visit a Hindu temple & drive past the Jumi-UL Alfar Jumma Mosque. We will then continue the tour through the Wolvendaal Dutch Church and Hultsdorf Law courts, through to the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens, then on to the Independence Square and Bandaranayke Memorial International Conference Hall. We will finish off the tour with a visit to the Gangaramaya Temple.
