Meet the team

Ian Kerr - Managing Director
Ian is the founder of Howzat Travel and currently lives in his home town of Melton Mowbray, near where the business is headquartered. Having spent the early part of his working career in the business banking environment, he spent all his free time developing Howzat Travel, going full time in 2007. Since Howzat Travel’s inception in 2004, Ian has spent a considerable time out of the country travelling the world, investigating tour potential and preparing the foundations for the future of the business. He has also been the Howzat Travel tour leader on numerous occasions and holds lots of the key relationships with travel partners and key cricket figures all over the world. In 2010, he will be leading tours to Bangladesh and the Ashes.

“Being a keen cricket fan, running a cricket travel business is a fantastic job, but it hasn’t been without lots of stress and worry over the years. Ensuring that each of the tours runs perfectly and that all of our customers are 100% happy is of paramount importance to us and we don’t rest until we are sure that is the case.”

Robert Hall - Commercial Director
Rob studied at Loughborough University before pursuing a career in the property industry in the South East. He has been involved with Howzat Travel since it was founded and used his experience of legal contracts, tendering and general business acumen to see Howzat Travel go from small beginnings to becoming one of the leading specialist operators in the UK. Rob is heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the business, including managing customer enquiries, preparing new tours and maximising new business opportunities. He also leads our tours and recently headed up one of the tours in the West Indies.

Steven Eatherington - Marketing Director
Since graduating from Sheffield Hallam University in 2001, Steve’s career has seen him occupy key marketing roles in organisations including a well-known broadcasting corporation, an online toy retailer and a large multinational specialising in data, software and consultancy. He brings extensive marketing and communications experience to the team, looking after customer communications, marketing strategy and website content, whilst working with the rest of team on the strategic direction of the business. Steve has also led previous Howzat Travel tours to the West Indies and South Africa, and in 2010 will be heading up tours in to the ICC World Twenty20 and the Ashes.

Craig Curtis - Technical Director
Another avid follower of English cricket, Craig’s career in website marketing stretches as far back as 2000 following his graduation at Nottingham Trent University. Originally working for agencies and online service providers specialising in search engine optimisation, he moved onto general website and e-commerce management and is currently e-commerce manager for a popular 'bricks and mortar' tools and machinery retailer. Craig’s part time role in Howzat Travel makes him responsible for developing, designing and maintaining the Howzat Travel, website along with email newsletters, magazine artwork, flyers and merchandise designs.

Martin Abbott - Financial Director
Martin started work in accountancy practice over 11 years ago, spending seven of those years as Financial Controller for a group in the private education sector. Martin provides the finance function for Howzat Travel and works closely with the team on all other aspects of the business to ensure that Howzat Travel goes from strength to strength.

“I didn’t really follow cricket until I got involved in Howzat Travel, and now I can’t get enough of it. The rest of the team’s passion for cricket is infectious. This love for the sport and our devotion to providing great value tours for our customers will no doubt ensure the continued success and growth of Howzat Travel.”

John Kerr
John works for Howzat Travel on an occasional basis, helping to manage customer enquiries during busy periods and heading up tours. He led our South Africa 'Newlands New Year' tour to Cape Town in 2009/10 and will be also be co-leading our ICC World Twenty20 tour to Barbados and St. Lucia this summer.
