The Red Centre

The Red Centre is an extraordinary landscape of desert plains, weathered mountain ranges, rocky gorges and some of Aboriginal Australia's most sacred sites, including Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa. Floating in an outback waterhole, dining under a starry sky while being serenaded by didgeridoo, and watching the world's most famous rock change colours at dawn and dusk are just some of the Red Centre's only-in-Australia experiences.

Itinerary

Fri 8th Dec
Transfer to Adelaide airport for your departing flight to Alice Springs. On arrival at Ayers Rock airport, transfer to your hotel.

There is a wide range of free activities available at Ayers Rock Resort including:

A guided or self-guided garden walk through local native flora.
Sit down for a bush yarn in the Circle of Sand with a local Anangu storyteller.
Learn how to throw a spear or boomerang with an Indigenous guide.
Listen to the enchanting sounds of the didgeridoo.
Support local artists and browse the many art pieces at the Indigenous art markets.
Marvel at the traditional Indigenous dance performance where audience participation is encouraged and rare photo opportunities with the performers will ensure you will never forget this unique experience.

Optional/additional cost - Sounds of Silence Dinner
Information to be provided in due course.

Sat 9th Dec
Rise early to watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Later, join your Guide for a drive around the base of Uluru. View Aboriginal rock paintings and learn about the area as your Driver Guide indicates some native flora and explains the Aboriginal and European history of Uluru. Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre.

This afternoon, travel to the mystical Kata Tjuta, 36 rock domes weathered over more than 500 million years with a stop at a lookout for a panoramic view of the southern side of Kata Tjuta. Continue to the base of Walpa Gorge and spend some time exploring the gorge and unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through the gorge follows the natural creek bed between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta.

Head back to Uluru sunset viewing area to witness the striking colour changes of Uluru while enjoying complimentary nibbles and sparkling wine.
