Depart the UK on your one-stop international flight to Auckland.
- Fri 23rd Feb
On arrival at Auckland airport, you will be met by your Tour Manager and transferred to your hotel.In the evening, you are invited to join your Tour Manager and the rest of your group for welcome drinks and an introduction to your tour. This will also be an ideal chance for you to meet your fellow Howzat Travellers.
- Sat 24th Feb – Auckland / Hamilton – 2 hours
This morning enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of the ‘City of Sails’. Highlights include the panoramic city and harbour views from Bastion Point; trendy Parnell Village; the lovely bays of the waterfront drive and the vibrant Viaduct Harbour area. Also visit the Auckland Museum which gives an excellent introduction to the artistic legacy and cultures of the peoples of the Pacific; the monumental carvings, buildings, canoes and taonga (treasures) of the Maori; and the diversity of cultures which now combine to form the rich tapestry of race, nationality and creed which is modern New Zealand (self-guided tour). Your tour concludes at the Sky Tower – New Zealand’s tallest tower. Step into the high-speed elevator and travel to the main observation deck for spectacular panoramic views of Auckland City, the Hauraki Gulf and the Waitemata Harbour. Stand on the glass floor and see Auckland at your feet – an amazing experience.

In the afternoon, drive south to Hamilton. Hamilton is New Zealand’s largest inland city – a modern and vibrant city, which straddles the Waikato River – New Zealand’s longest waterway. The riverside walks and lovely parks and gardens are a special feature. The Hamilton Gardens – 142 acres of gardens, many of them themed, and The Rogers Rose Garden in particular is world-renowned. There is also a very good Museum of Art and History in Hamilton with an excellent collection of Maori artefacts on display.Check in to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

After breakfast and a morning at leisure, take the short walk to Seddon Park for the first ODI between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to the hotel.
- Mon 26th Feb – Hamilton / Rotorua – 1 1/2 hours
This morning, travel east over rolling farmlands to Rotorua. Located in the heart of New Zealand’s famous thermal region, Rotorua forms part of the geologically active ‘Pacific Rim of Fire’. Situated on the shores of Lake Rotorua, it is also renowned for Maori cultural activities.Upon arrival visit the thermal area of Waiotapu, one of the world’s most colourful thermal areas. See the Artist’s Palette where different minerals form areas on the pool surface, view the tiny bubbles surfacing in the Champagne Pool and walk down alongside the silica terrace to see the Bridal Veil Falls as well as other thermal activity.This evening visit Tamaki Maori Village for a Cultural Experience and Hangi Dinner. Experience the warmth of the Maori people during an evening of ceremonial rituals, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. Enter the pre-European Maori village, witness the earth being carefully scraped away from the hangi pit and enter their ancestral Meeting House to relax as their family entertains you with a powerful cultural performance before dining on the traditional hangi buffet dinner (Maori feast) cooked the traditional Maori way in an earth oven. Morning at leisure in Rotorua with time for optional activities. Normal room check out time applies.Mid-afternoon travel by coach passing Lake Rotoiti and travelling towards the coast of the bountiful Bay of Plenty. Continue on to Mt Maunganui which is one of New Zealand’s top beach resorts, and situated near the city of Tauranga. Evening at leisure.
- Wed 28th Feb 2nd New Zealand v England ODI
After breakfast and a morning at leisure, transfer to the Bay Oval for the second ODI between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to the hotel.
- Thur 1st Mar – Mt Maunganui & Tauranga / Wellington- 7 1/2 hours
Depart early this morning for a full day travelling south to Wellington.*If you would like to explore the possibility of flying between Tauranga and Wellington, we are more than happy to quote this for you. Additional charges will apply.Retrace your journey back to Rotorua then travel through vast pine forests to Taupo on the shores of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake. En route, see the fascinating geothermal borefield at Wairakei and the spectacular Huka Falls on the mighty Waikato River. Day at leisure to explore New Zealand’s capital city.We suggest a visit to Te Papa, New Zealand’s National Museum which offers visitors a unique and authentic experience of New Zealand’s treasures and stories. Explore Te Papa independently to learn about the shaping of its land, the spirit of its diverse peoples, its unique wildlife, landscapes and its distinctive popular culture. Your Tour Managers and our local partners will be on hand to help with anything you may wish to do.
- Sat 3rd Mar 3rd New Zealand v England ODI
After breakfast and a morning at leisure, wander down to the third ODI between New Zealand and England at the Westpac Stadium, or the ‘Cake-Tin’ as it’s also affectionately known. After the day’s play, return to the hotel.

Transfer to Wellington Airport for your domestic flight to Queenstown.Arrive in Queenstown and proceed on a sightseeing tour which includes historic Arrowtown, the Kawarau Bridge to see the daredevils bungy jumping and the Edith Cavall Bridge which spans the narrow canyon of the Shotover River.Check in to your hotel and the remainder of the day is at leisure.Surrounded by majestic mountains and set on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu, the natural beauty and the unique energy of the Queenstown region create the perfect backdrop for a holiday full of adventure, exploration or relaxation. As well as the proclaimed ‘adventure capital of NZ’, the resort town of Queenstown is sophisticated and fantastically scenic. Its lake and mountain landscape is suited to almost any kind of adventure; but Queenstown is just as well known as a place for indulgence, for wine and cuisine and for gold-mining history.

Day at leisure for your choice of optional activities. Queenstown offers a host of holiday attractions from helicopter flights and trips on jet-boats, to walks and hikes, wine tours to premier Central Otago wineries, lake cruises, 4WD excursions into the hills or for adrenaline junkies, bungy jumping, white water rafting, ziptrekking and skydiving! Your Tour Manager and our local partners will be on hand to assist with anything you may wish to do.
- Tue 6th Mar – Queenstown / Dunedin – 3 3/4 hours
Leave Queenstown through the rugged Kawarau Gorge and travel through Cromwell then alongside Lake Dunstan which was formed when New Zealand’s latest hydro dam was built at Clyde. This area was once the scene of a major gold rush. The area around Roxburgh is famous for its stone fruit orchards especially peaches and apricots grown successfully on the stony river-flats between the mountains and the fast flowing Clutha River. Travel south to the small country town of Milton then head north across the fertile Taieri Plains to Dunedin.Check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.Sitting at the head of the magnificent Otago Harbour, Dunedin was founded in 1848 by Scottish settlers and envisaged as the ‘Edinburgh of the South’. The influence of its Scottish heritage is still strongly evident.
- Wed 7th Mar 4th New Zealand v England ODI
After breakfast, walk to the University Oval for the fourth ODI between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to the hotel.
- Tues 8th Mar – Dunedin / Christchurch – 5 hours
Departing Dunedin, the road climbs sharply over the hills that surround the city. Continuing north there are some lovely views of the coast and the Pacific Ocean. Stop at Moeraki and see the unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach then continue on to the coastal town of Oamaru. With many of Oamaru’s old buildings having been constructed with local limestone, the southern part of Oamaru’s main business district ranks as one of New Zealand’s most impressive streetscapes. Pass through Oamaru and Timaru and cross the sheep and cropping areas of the fertile Canterbury Plains. The snow-capped Southern Alps can be seen to the West for much of the journey.Arrive in the city of Christchurch where following the devastating earthquakes of 2011, a major reconstruction programme is underway in both the city centre and outlying areas.Check in to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.

This morning enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour of Christchurch. Since the devastating earthquakes of 2011, the city of Christchurch’s rebuilding programme is in full swing and there will be opportunity to view a variety of innovative architectural projects, such as the temporary ‘Cardboard Cathedral’, and the reconstruction of the main arts buildings. Other tour highlights include the River Avon, the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch Art Gallery; the Catholic Basilica; Bridge of Remembrance; and the Art Deco New Regent Street. Learn about the effects of the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes and how the city is rebuilding.Afternoon at leisure.This evening, join your Tour Managers, fellow travellers and a special guest for the Howzat Travel tour farewell dinner.

After breakfast, walk to the Hagley Oval for the fifth and final ODI between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, we will return to our hotel.

Check out of your hotel and transfer to Christchurch airport for your international flight back to the UK. Or……delay your departure and extend your stay in New Zealand to take in the two-test series, check out the warm-up games in Hamilton or head to the pre-tour sightseeing option in the Bay of Islands.
