- Wednesday 30th October – Arrive Christchurch
On arrival at Christchurch International Airport, you will be met by your Tour Manager and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure, your Tour Manager and our local partners will be able to assist you with any activities you may wish to do. In the evening, you are invited to join your Tour Manager and the rest of your group for a welcome drink and an introduction to your tour. This will also be an ideal chance for you to meet your fellow Howzat Travellers.
- Thursday 31st October
After breakfast at your hotel, depart by coach on a half-day sightseeing tour of Christchurch. Since the devastating earthquakes of 2011, the city of Christchurch’s rebuilding programme is in full swing and there will be opportunity to view a variety of innovative architectural projects, such as the temporary ‘Cardboard Cathedral’, and the reconstruction of the main arts buildings. Other tour highlights include the River Avon, the Canterbury Museum, Christchurch Art Gallery; the Catholic Basilica; Bridge of Remembrance; and the Spanish Mission inspired New Regent Street. Learn about the effects of the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes and how the city is rebuilding. Upon return to your hotel, enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
- Friday 1st November – 1st New Zealand v England T20
After breakfast enjoy a morning of leisure, then transfer to the Hagley Oval for the 1st T20 between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to your hotel.
- Saturday 2nd November – Christchurch/Wellington
After an early breakfast at your hotel, depart Christchurch on the Coastal Pacific train to Picton. Cross the fertile farmlands of the North Canterbury Plains before passing the coastal town of Kaikoura, popular for whale watching. Travel along a thin ledge of land pinned between the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean and the rugged Kaikoura Ranges then pass through the grape growing region of Marlborough. Arrive in Picton situated at the head of picturesque Queen Charlotte Sound and then board the Interislander Ferry for a 3-hour cruise through the magnificent Marlborough Sounds and across Cook Strait. The city of Wellington is set around a magnificent harbour and there is no better way of appreciating its grandeur than from the ferry as it cruises into Wellington Harbour. Arrive Wellington in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel by coach. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and enjoy an evening of leisure.
- Sunday 3rd November – 2nd New Zealand v England T20
After breakfast enjoy a morning of leisure, then transfer to the WESTPAC Stadium for the 2nd T20 between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to your hotel.
- Monday 4th November – Wellington/Nelson
After breakfast at your hotel, reboard the Interislander Ferry for the journey across Cook Strait to Picton. Here, board your coach and travel through Marlborough wine country stopping at a local winery for wine-tasting. Afterwards continue across to Picton and re-board your coach and continue to tour through to Blenheim. Fifty years ago there was hardly a commercial grape grown in the Blenheim area. Now the Marlborough district is the top wine producing area in New Zealand with its wines winning awards around the world. Today we visit a local winery for tastings of their fine product before heading to Nelson. The city of Nelson is known for its sunny climate, golden sand beaches, wineries, artists and craftspeople and three National Parks in close proximity. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and enjoy an evening at leisure.
- Tuesday 5th November – 3rd New Zealand v England T20
After breakfast enjoy a morning of leisure, then transfer to the Saxton Oval for the 3rd T20 between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to your hotel.
- Wednesday 6th November
After breakfast, transfer out to Kaiteriteri, gateway to New Zealand’s smallest National Park, Abel Tasman National Park. From here take a scenic cruise up the coastline into Tonga Island Marine Reserve where you may see the resident seals sunning themselves on the rocks. At the conclusion of your cruise, return to Kaiteriteri then retrace journey back to Nelson. Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.
- Thursday 7th November – Nelson/Napier
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Nelson airport for your domestic flight to Napier. Upon arrival in Napier, you will be transfered to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure.
- Friday 8th November – 4th New Zealand v England T20
After breakfast enjoy a morning and afternoon of leisure. In the evening, transfer to McLean Park for the 4th T20 between New Zealand and England. After the evening’s play, return to your hotel.
- Saturday 9th November – Napier/Rotorua
After breakfast at your hotel, depart by coach for Rotorua. Cross the Rangitaiki Plains to the resort town of Taupo on the shores of Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake and a world renowned trout fishery. Stop at Huka Falls and marvel as the mighty Waikato River thunders through the narrow canyon. From Taupo, drive through the Kaingaroa State Forest, one of the largest planted forests in the world, towards Rotorua. Visit the thermal area of Waiotapu, one of the world’s most colourful thermal areas. See the Artist’s Palette where different minerals form areas on the pool surface, view the tiny bubbles surfacing in the Champagne Pool and walk down alongside the silica terrace to see the Bridal Veil Falls as well as other thermal activity. Located in the heart of New Zealand’s famous thermal region, Rotorua forms part of the geologically active ‘Pacific Rim of Fire’. Situated on the shores of Lake Rotorua, it is also renowned for Maori cultural activities. This evening visit Tamaki Maori Village for a Cultural Experience and Hangi Dinner. Experience the warmth of the Maori people during an evening of ceremonial rituals, powerful cultural performance, storytelling & hangi feasting. Enter the pre-European Maori village, witness the earth being scraped carefully away from the hangi pit and enter their ancestral Meeting House to relax as their family entertain you with a powerful cultural performance before dining on the traditional hangi buffet dinner (Maori feast) cooked the traditional Maori way in an earth oven. Return hotel transfers included – other travellers will be on board. Drinks not included – pay direct.
- Sunday 10th November – Rotorua/Auckland – 5th New Zealand v England T20
After breakfast depart by coach to Auckland. Upon arrival in Auckland, check-in to your hotel and transfer to Eden Park for the 5th T20 between New Zealand and England. After the day’s play, return to your hotel.
- Monday 11th November – Depart Auckland
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Auckland International Airport for your one-stop flight back to the UK.
